Progress made on unemployment system glitches, but jobless still struggle

The Department of Economic Opportunity says most of the technical problems resulting from the October switch to a new unemployment claims system have been fixed, but problems persist for many workers seeking benefits.

The main problems remaining center on delays with the adjudication and appeals processes for claims that are flagged or protested by employers. For unemployed workers seeking benefits, however, the problems are not mere glitches but a matter of stark economic choices.
