Population increases for Florida’s biggest cities has come to a screeching halt, showing just how bad the state has been hurt by the economic downturn and the collapse of Florida's housing market.
The U.S. Census Bureau released figures on Tuesday that listed the growth rates for cities with more than 100,000 residents over the last two years. No city from Florida cracked the list of the top 75 cities. During the time period 2000-2009 there were three Florida cities in the top 10 in population growth, with Port St. Lucie coming in at number five, and a total of eight cities in the top 100.
