State officials Monday confirmed the first Florida case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome infection in a patient at an Orlando hospital. The victim is a resident of Saudi Arabia visiting Florida.
“The Florida Department of Health is working closely with hospital officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to ensure appropriate care of the patient and protect the health of all residents and visitors,” said State Surgeon General John Armstrong.
