Panuccio takes first step in confirmation despite heat over unemployment system

Department of Economic Opportunity executive director Jesse Panuccio received a unanimous vote Wednesday for confirmation from the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Tourism and Economic Development, but not before pointed questions and comments about the switch last fall to a new unemployment system that delayed benefit payments for thousands of out of work Floridians.
