A House committee struck down an attempt Tuesday to change state law to allow up to 100 balloons to be released for funerals, memorials and church events.
Florida law now says it is unlawful to release more than 10 balloons at a time. In 2013, Anthony Brasfield was charged by a state trooper with pollution when he released a dozen heart-shaped balloons at a Motel 6 in Dania Beach to impress his girlfriend, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
