A proposed committee bill that would eliminate the requirement that unemployment benefits claimants take an “initial skills review” cleared the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee on Monday.
Sen. Nancy Detert, R-Venice, who chairs the committee, is not pleased with the test, saying it was intended to help unemployed Floridians get back to work but has instead been an obstacle for many claimants seeking jobless benefits.
