Last Update Feb. 6, 2015: The Department of Children and Families is responsible for the state’s child protection system. Its responsibilities encompass a wide-range of services, including – among other things – assistance to families working to stay safely together or be reunited, foster care, youth and young adults transitioning from foster care to independence and adoption, according to website. The department partners with various community-based organizations around Florida to accomplish those goals.
