Last update Aug. 6, 2014: The Seminole Gaming Compact was signed in 2010 to allow the Seminole Tribe of Florida the exclusive right to operate “covered games” including bankied card games, and some other chance based games on Seminole lands within the state. It ensured that slot machines would not be authorized at any locations except for the Seminole casinos and the four pari-mutuels currently authorized to operate slot machines. The Compact authorized the Seminoles to operate these games at seven locations: the Seminole Indian Casinos at Brighton, Coconut Creek, Hollywood, Immokalee, Big Cypress, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casinos in Hollywood and Tampa, and allowed the tribe to expand those locations with 60-days’ notice to the state.
